| Customer Reviews: Reliable for years February 27, 2010 luckyspark (asbury park, nj) I have owned this watch since they put them on the market...probably close to 20 years. The watch itself has been the most reliable watch I have ever owned and I have used it almost everyday. I haven't even had to change the battery that often. I love this watch and it has become my most treasured and loved possession.
The only negative thing I have to say is that the chain has held up but I have had to replace the clip and jump ring several times. I find this a small price to pay to have such a reliable and awesome watch with me at all times. Wrist watches need bands every so often; so, I feel replacing those two incredibly inexpensive parts every few years is worth it. I bought a small bag of each part at a bead store and fix it myself.

I have had this Swiss Army pocket watch for many years (twenty years, if I'm not mistaken). It has always been accurate and exceedingly reliable. The battery needs replacing approximately every two years. The past two battery replacements have been done by a Mexican sidewalk vendor/repairman on the Rio Cuale Bridge along Avenida Insurgentes in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico ... perhaps some of you have seen him. The leather pouch is still intact. The chain has been replaced by a home-made leather fob. The original chain now supports my house keys. Wonderful watch! Highly recommended.
This pocket watch is valuable to me November 25, 2008 Dennis C. Rahn (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My left wrist was broken years ago and wearing a watch on it bothers me. I couldn't get used to one on the right arm either so I've been using pocket watches. After using many cheap types I have settled on the Victorinox pocket watch and am a happy camper. It's large easy to read face and weight yells value. Not a bit of trouble with the chain or watch after two years so far. I did replace the fob as soon as I got it though for a stainless steel clasp. It's cool to "Whip it out."
Swiss Army Pocket Watch September 30, 2008 A. Holmes (Maine) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
My wife purchased this watch from a jewelry store for me for father's day about 3-1/2 years ago. The chain fell apart within about three months. I've had numerous problems with the battery falling out from its inside compartment and now it has failed all together. The watch always has stayed in the watch pocket of my jeans and has never seen rough use but has numerous scratches from normal everyday use. Finally because of its sentimental value I sent it to swiss army for repair and they said that it needed a whole new movement cleaning, etc. for $58.00. I've had other pocket watches that I have purchased from walmart for $10 to $15 that have faired far better. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on this poor quality piece just because it has the name Swiss Army.
A High Quality Pocket Watch September 21, 2008 James Reese (Atlanta, GA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Swiss Army pocket watch stands out from other modern offerings. It has a rugged stainless steel case, a Swiss quartz movement, a mineral glass crystal, a heavy duty chain, and water resistance to 100 meters. I have checked this pocket watch against the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado, and it is accurate to within one second a day. I wanted to get a decent pocket watch and I passed over many of inferior quality before deciding on this Victorinox watch. Your average pocket watch these days comes with a plastic crystal, which is easily scratched. The movements in most modern pocket watches are also highly suspect: mechanical movements may be made in Thailand and quartz movements are usually from Japan. Forget about water resistance in your average, run-of-the-mill pocket watch. This watch has a stainless steel case that is built like a tank. If the case gets scratched, you can polish out the scratches--same with the mineral glass crystal. I have mineral glass crystals on a number of wristwatches, and I polish out the scratches with a fine abrasive called Flitz. The other thing I like about the Victorinox watch is the highly luminous hands and hour markers--they really stand out. The only improvements I'd recommend is a nicer, roomier leather pouch that would attach to your belt--the supplied pouch is really too small. The date window at the six o'clock position could be a little larger. Overall, however, this is a pocket watch you can be proud to pull out of a vest pocket or belt pouch. I have already selected a small, stainless steel finished Swiss Army knife by Victorinox as the perfect "watch fob." The watch is warranted by Victorinox for three years, and that's the longest warranty you'll probably get on a pocket watch. This watch recalls the bygone era of the railroad watch, and you can finally own a pocket watch your great grandfather would be proud to own!
